Streptococcus mutans is a bacteria which is the main culprit that causes plaque, gingivitis and in later on stages Periodontitis. One study conducted proved that oil swishing with sesame oil significantly reduced Stretococcus mutans in saliva in one week.
Unfortuantely, there are no studies which prove that Cocunut Oil Pulling whitens teeth. However, it’s sage and harmless. Many people claim that their teeth are whiter after regular oil pulling.
To oil pull, put 1 tablespoon of cocunut oil in your mouth and swish the oil through your teeth. Cocunut oil is solid at room temprature, so its better to wait a few seconds for it to melt. Cocunut oil pulling should be done for 15-20 minutes.
Spit the cocunut oil into a toiler or trash can, that way it can return to solid which makes it easy to dispose of.
Many teeth whitening products expose your tooth surface. However, cocunut oil pulling does not expose your teeth.
2. Brushing with Baking Soda – Natural Teeth Whitening
Due to Baking Soda’s natural whitening properties, it’s a popular ingredient in commercial toothpaste.
It’s mild abrasive properties can scrub away surface stains on teeth.
Furthermore, due to baking sodas alkalinity, it creates an alkaline environment in the mouth. This prevents bacteria from growing.
Although this is not a remedy that whitens the teeth overnight, but a difference is usually seen with time.
Several studies have shown that toothpaste containing backing soda has a significant whitening effect.
One study conducted found that toothpastes containing baking soda were significantly more effective at removing yellow stains than conventional toothpastes without baking soda. The higher the concentration of baking soda, the better the natural teeth whitening result.
To use the following remedy, mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water and brush your teeth with this paste. Follow the procedure for a few weeks and VOILA natural teeth whitening.
3. Hydrogen Peroxide – Natural Teeth Whitening
Hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleacing that kills most of the bacteria in the mouth.

Many toothpastes use hydrogen peroxide as well, although they use a very high concentration.

One famous study found that a toothpaste containing baking soda and 1% hydrogen peroxide lead to white teeth.
However, people are also concerned about the safety of hydrogen peroxide.
Diluted concentrations of hydrogen peroxide appear safe, however, strong contraions or overuse can cause gum irritation and tooth sensitivity. There’s also a buzz going around that high doses may cause cancer.
To use this remedy, buy a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution from a pharmacy. Dilute the solution to 1.5% by mixing equal parts of peroxide and water.
Do not overuse this method as it may erode your enamel.
4. Use of Apple Cider Vinegar – Natural Teeth Whitening
Apple cider vinegar has been used for a long time as a disinfectant and a natural cleaning product.
The high concentration of acetic acid effectively kills bacteria. Apple cider vinegar’s antibacterial property makes it useful for cleaning your mouth and give you natural white teeth.
A study conducted on cow teeth concluded that apple cider vinegar does have a bleaching effect on teeth. Furthermore, they also found that vinegar may soften the teeth.
