We've seen crossbite becoming a problem these days for a lot of our patients. By definition, a crossbite is when a patient's lower teeth are sitting ahead of the upper teeth. We also call this as a malaligned bite and it can have delirious effects on your health, for instance, instant wear of teeth with the progression of age.
Whether you have an anterior crossbite or a posterior one, we will be happy to keep an appointment for you with our best orthodontist in Islamabad, Dr. Owais.
According to oral health and through some of our patients, crowding is the number one reason why patients tend to go for orthodontic treatment.
In simpler terms, crowding occurs when your jaws don't have enough space to accommodate your teeth or your teeth are oversized as compared to your jaw. We at Z Dental Studio always recommend our patients to go for orthodontic treatment if they have crowding because of side effects that it can have on the oral cavity, for instance, crowding can lead to early tooth decay and make teeth more prone to cavities due to difficulties in brushing.
Spaced teeth is another problem for many patients. According to our orthodontist, Dr. Owais, this can happen anywhere in the mouth but is mostly found in the anterior region between the two front incisors. This is also referred to as Diastema.
To make it simple for you, an improper bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't come in contact with each other properly when you bite down. This can affect the appearance of your face, chewing efficiency and speech.
Dr. Owais has treated close to 3000+ cases of malocclusions over his career and he has treated numerous patients at our dental office in islamabad.
Most commonly teeth erupting patterns and time is usually altered if you or your child has lost a milk tooth or several milk teeth. In such cases, either the eruption of teeth is delayed or they come out partly or at an angle that is out of your jaw arch.
Depending on the complication, Dr. Owais will usually recommend aligners, extraction of retained teeth or braces.
Patients with a smaller jaw or big teeth are predisposed to getting impacted teeth. The most common impacted teeth that we've seen at our dental facility in Islamabad are either canines or third molars.
In case you have any impacted teeth, Dr. Owais is the perfect orthodontist in Islamabad for you.
Did we ever tell you that Dr. Owais has a subscpeciality in Dental Implants too. Mini dental implants can be used to support dentures and can also be used for orthodontic treatment in instances where teeth have to be moved in anteriorly, posteriorly and furthermore, for intrusion or extrusion of teeth.
"I've been practicing orthodontics for 10+ years now and I've seen that with each generation, the complexity of cases changes, with that bearing in mind I have to stay well-informed with my orthodontics knowledge which includes learning new procedures, devices, and methods to move teeth according to the patient's needs.
I've been working at Z Dental Studio for nearly 6 years and working with the owner, the staff and it has been an absolute pleasure of mine. Whenever I join a dental practice I have a criterion that includes, proper sterilization, a well-trained staff, a clean clinic, and one that has the best machinery and the newest machines.
Well, I can boast about my degrees over here but for me, orthodontics is much more than just fancy degrees, to me, orthodontics is a way of giving patients a beautiful smile, a way to develop a strong relationship with my patients and all together help the community of Islamabad. To be honest this is what we were taught from day one as soon as I started a BDS degree from Univerity of Peshawar.
After completing my bachelor's degree, I pursued my career in Orthodontics by enrolling myself in a fellowship program offered by CPSP which is what we call FCPS. I carried out my training for FCPS in Islamic International Dental Hospital in which I successfully treated 1250+ orthodontic patients during the 4 years of my training which was also my quota for this postgraduate program. Over these 4 years, I passed several extensive and comprehensive written and practical exams. Furthermore, I made a ton of contributions to orthodontic journals that have honestly made an impact on the variety of treatments that are carried out by dentists in today's era.
Following the completion of my postgraduate degree from CPSP, I had the urge of seeking more knowledge which led me to achieve my fellowship diploma of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland or FFD RCSI. This diploma required me to be a good standing member of the orthodontics faculty and 3 years of full-time employment in a dental hospital institution.
Moreover, I'm one of the very few if not only Orthodontist in Islamabad or as a matter of fact in Pakistan to hold the prestigious M-Orth diploma by the royal college of surgeons in Edinburgh. I'm particularly proud of this diploma because of the nature of the complexity of this diploma and the sheer hard work it took me to complete it.
Currently, I'm an Associate Professor, a consultant orthodontist at Z Dental Studio and the head of the department at Islamic International Hospital where I teach undergraduate students and I'm also a supervisor to MDS, FCPS students both of which are fellowship and postgraduate programs in advanced orthodontics.
